Kerala aims to have zero AIDS cases by 2025

Thiruvananthapuram : , November 30, 2003 – Kerala plans to achieve the World Health Organisation’s goal of no new AIDS cases by 2030.Veena George, State Health Minister, stated that Kerala has a plan to achieve this goal by 2025.
The claim of the Minister comes just before World AIDS Day, December 1.

George stated, “To reach our target, Kerala will launch a drive to identify HIV-positive patients and provide treatment.Through this, we are certain that we can achieve our goal.”

“End inequalities” is the theme of the 2021 World AIDS Day.End AIDS

“The theme is appropriate, as only by ending all inequalities can we achieve our goal.”The urgent need is for total cooperation from all segments of society, especially considering the Covid pandemic.This makes the challenge even more difficult, as we aim to bring people who are positive into mainstream society,” George said.

According to the most recent statistics, there are 25,775 HIV-positive cases in the state.0.08 percent of these elders are HIV-positive.The national average for HIV positive elders is 0.22 percent.

George will launch a state-level awareness campaign against HIV to mark World AIDS Day, Wednesday,
