New Delhi, Nov 18, : .Chief Minister Arvind Kehrwal of Delhi reiterated Thursday his commitment to provide a clean Yamuna for the citizens of the capital.
He also said that it would be cleaned up before the 2025 Assembly elections, which are due in February. The Yamuna is near to all people in Delhi.It’s the lifeline for Delhi.Everybody wants to see the Yamuna sparkling clean.The Yamuna was dirty for 70 years.It cannot be cleaned in just two days.Six specific actions have been developed to clean Yamuna in time for the next Delhi assembly election.Kejriwal stated that he is personally watching it during a press conference on Thursday.
Kejriwal explained the six-point plan by saying, “First, we are building new sewer treatment plants.New Delhi currently can only treat 600MGD (million gallon per day) of wastewater.
This means that a lot of untreated sewage gets released into the Yamuna.
According to the chief minister, the city needs sewage treatment plant (STPs), with an aggregate capacity of 800-850 MGD.
We are doing three things in this area.We are building new sewage treatment facilities, such as the coronation and Rithala plants.We are also increasing the plant’s capacity.The third reason is that the current plants use outdated technology, which means even treated water can be contaminated.
He stated that we will improve the technology so treated water is 10/10 pure.
The Jan Suvidha, or Public Convenience Complexes is the fourth.
Many times, the stormwater drains connected to these complexes were incorrectly connected to storm water drains.These are meant to collect rainwater and not sewage.This system will be changed.He said that all the outgoing will be connected with the sewer system to allow it to get treated.”
“Fifth: There are many areas in Delhi that have the ability to connect to a fully functional sewer network.Each household will be connected to the sewer network by Delhi’s government.
You will not need to file an application nor get the connection completed by yourself.The charges have been significantly reduced and any nominal fees for connection will be added to your monthly bill.
Kejriwal stated that sixth, Delhi’s entire sewer system is being de-silted and restored to its best capabilities.
