KCR announces the next stage of its protest against paddy procurement

Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced the next phase of protest by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).Hyderabad, November 16th : Insisting that the Centre stand firm on Paddy Procurement from Telangana (CMK), Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao announced Tuesday the next stage of the protest by Telangana Rashtra Samithi.(TRS).
All ministers, state legislators, MPs and other elected representatives of the ruling party will stage a ‘dharna’ at Indira Park in Hyderabad on November 18, announced Rao after presiding over a meeting of TRS legislators to chalk out future course of action.Rao, who presided over the meeting of TRS legislators in order to determine future actions, announced that all ministers, state legislators as well as MPs will be staging a “dharna” at Indira park, Hyderabad, on November 18.

He told reporters after the meeting that TRS will be after BJP which is adopting dual policy on the issue of paddy procurement.After the meeting, he told reporters that TRS would pursue BJP for its dual-political approach to paddy procurement.

The TRS leaders had staged ‘dharna’ in all Assembly constituencies on November 12, demanding the Centre to procure paddy from the state.On November 12, the leaders of the TRS had organized a ‘dharna in every Assembly constituency, requesting that the Centre procure paddy form the state.

KCR said he would write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the concerned central minister on Wednesday, demanding the Centre to procure paddy from Telangana during the coming Rabi season.KCR stated that he will write on Wednesday to Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India and to the central minister concerned to ask the Centre for paddy procurement from Telangana in the coming Rabi season.

He said the Centre should procure paddy from Telangana the way it is doing from Punjab.According to him, the Centre should purchase paddy from Telangana in the same way that it does from Punjab.”You can’t have one policy for one region and another for a different region,” he said.He said, “You cannot have one policy that applies to one region but another for another region.”

KCR said the state government had been waiting for 50 days but the Centre has not made its stand clear.KCR stated that the state government has been waiting 50 days, but the Centre still hasn’t made clear its position.

Referring to the earlier stand by the Centre that it will not procure parboiled rice from Telangana, he said the Centre should clarify the quantity of raw rice it will procure from the state.He referred to the Centre’s earlier statement that it would not procure Telangana parboiled rice.

KCR said that the Centre must clarify how much raw rice it will purchase from Telangana.

He said in view of the earlier stand taken by the Centre, the agriculture minister had advised farmers not to cultivate paddy and go for alternate crops.

According to him, in light of earlier Centre positions, the Agriculture Minister had recommended that farmers cultivate other crops and not plant paddy.He, however, said BJP’s state president Bandi Sanjay created confusion among farmers by asking them to grow paddy and not to worry about selling it.However, he said that Bandi Sanjay, the BJP state president, created confusion for farmers by telling them to plant paddy instead of worrying about how to sell it.

KCR slammed Sanjay for his visit to paddy procurement centres and for what he called attacks on farmers.KCR criticised Sanjay’s visit to the paddy procurement centers and his attacks on farmers.He alleged that the BJP leader was creating law and order problems.

KCR claimed that the BJP leader was creating problems in law and order.He claimed that those protesting against his visit were not TRS workers but were farmers.

He said that protestors against his visit weren’t TRS workers, but farmers.

He reiterated that TRS will not leave the BJP leader.He assured that TRS would not abandon the BJP leader.”We are not going to leave you.We aren’t going to abandon you.You can’t fool people with such tactics,” he said.He said that such tricks are not foolproof.

KCR wanted Sanjay to clarify if he was still sticking to his stand on paddy cultivation or tender an apology to farmers.

The chief minister said after the November 18 dharna, the TRS government would wait for two more days and then tell farmers what to cultivate during the coming season.

After the November 18th dharna the chief minister stated that the TRS government would wait two days before telling farmers what crops to plant in the next season.

He, however, appealed to farmers not to suffer losses by going in for paddy cultivation believing the statements of state BJP leader.

However, he appealed to the farmers to not lose their paddy crops, believing that state BJP leaders were correct.
