Commuters felt very happy as the Durga flyover reduces crowding and travel time.
The prestigious Kanaka Durga Flyover has set open to commuters on Friday by the Chief Minister of AP, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy along with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari through virtual manner.
The people of Kummaripalem, Vidyadharapuram and Bhavanipuram are elated as the journey between Bhavanipuram to Krishna Lanka became easy with no congestion and less time.
The flyover is a six-lane highway with 2.6 KM length and 880 metres-long approach road.It has a unique and typical design with a six-lane corridor supported by a single pillar.Reportedly, the flyover has a total cost of Rs 502 crore where Centre has granted Rs 355.8 crore, and Andhra Pradesh government allotted Rs 146.2 crore to complete it.Besides, the Union minister Gadkari has also laid the foundation stone for 61 other projects which cost Rs 15,591.9 crore across the state.
The flyover has to be completed by 2016 as the Central government had sanctioned for it in 2014 after the TDP (Telugu Desam Party) government came into power.
However, the construction of the flyover got delayed with various reasons which included a shortage of funds and infrastructure.
