Lucknow, Nov 30, : A judge from the Lucknow bench at Allahabad High Court gave Rs.15,000 to a poor student of Dalit who couldn’t deposit the fees for allotment to a seat in IIT (BHU) after passing the joint entrance examination (JEE).
Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh’s bench directed the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (IIT(BHU), and IIT(BHU), to admit the student in mathematics/computer science (five-year, bachelor, and master technology dual degree) course.

The BHU was also instructed by the bench to create a supernumerary place for the Dalit student if the current seat is not filled.

The student was asked to report to BHU within three working days with all documents necessary for admission.

On Monday, Sanskriti Ranjan, a student, moved the petition to the bench.

She had asked the bench to direct the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (IIT(BHU)) to allow her to deposit Rs 15,000 fees.

In her petition, she argued that she belonged in the Scheduled Caste category.She had 95.6 percent marks in high school, and 94.3% in intermediate.

She took the JEE to be selected for IITs.She passed the exam.She scored 92.77 percent in JEE mains exam and was able to secure her rank at 2062 for SC category candidate.

The petitioner applied for JEE Advance on September 16, 2021.

It was cleared on October 15, 2021 with 1,469 rank under Scheduled Caste category.

The petitioner was granted a seat at IIT Varanasi Varanasi for computing and mathematics (five-year, bachelor, and master of technology dual degree).

She was unable to arrange for Rs 15,000 fees to pay before the date.

The judge agreed to give Rs 15,000 to the student in court.

He also made sure that she was admitted to the IIT (BHU), within three days.
