Bengaluru 18 August : The dispute over the comment made about ‘job over bed’ made by Congress legislator Priyank Kharge in Karnataka became more tense following the incident in which an BJP legislator made personal remarks and later apologized for the comments on Thursday.
Priyank Kharge who is also the head of the media cell of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on the 13th of August, said “To be able to get government jobs, young women will be required to sleep in and men must pay bribes in Karnataka.” He demanded an investigation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) into frauds in recruitment as well as Fast Track Courts (FTC) must be established.”

The comment caused controversy and caused a huge embarrassment for the ruling BJP.Rajkumar Patil Telkur, BJP MLA from north Karnataka in his reaction to Kharge’s remarks, inquired whether his “sisters were able to get the same jobs in the same way”?

The remarks made from BJP MLA Telkur were attacked by Priyank Kharge supporters.The supporters made phone calls directly to Telkur, the BJP MLA to ask him questions about the remarks.

In the wake of the incident, BJP MLA Telkur released an audio clip on Thursday and apologized for his remarks.”This is not an personal remark.The sisters of Priyank Kharge have the same characteristics as my sisters.I haven’t brought the Kharge family of Kharge into this controversy.

I have pleaded with for respect from the rights of all Indian women.If I’ve hurt the feelings of Kharge or his supporters I apologise,” he said.

The ruling BJP demanded Priyank Kharge to apologize to women for making demeaning remarks about women who get jobs with their dedication.Kharge apologized for his remarks.
