High drama unfolded at Anantapur Rural Police Station as a TDP leader JC Diwakar Reddy surrendered.The political leader went silent after TDP’s humiliating defeat in 2019 AP State Assembly elections.
Since then, Diwakar Reddy has been in the news for the wrong reasons.
In December 2019 his comments against the state police invited a severe backlash from all sections of the society.
He went on to say on the record, ‘we will appoint policemen who will lick our boots once TDP comes into power’.Since then, despite repeated notices, Diwakar Reddy refused to surrender.
In the latest development, the former minister surrendered after applying for anticipatory bail.It is understood that the police bosses aren’t pleased with the political leader’s repeated apologies and are likely to drag him to the court.
‘Political leaders think they can talk about the police department.Yes, we are controlled by them to a large extent.
That doesn’t mean we pledged our self-respect at their feet.This should be a lesson for everyone who looks down on us’, said an IPS rank officer on condition of anonymity.
