Due to serious system failures, a Japanese mobile carrier will be subject to government order

Tokyo, Nov 26, : On Friday, the Japanese government issued an administrative order to NTT Docomo Inc.
NTT Docomo was ordered by the Ministry to stop the recurrence.This incident had resulted in many users nationwide not being able to use voice or data services at one time on October 14.This was due to the failure of the carrier’s network.It took around 29 hours for services fully restored.

The Ministry also asked the firm to improve its methods of delivering information to users.

Some users could not access the network after the carrier announced the resumption.

According to the law governing the telecommunications industry, a failure that causes more than 30,000 people for over an hour is considered a serious event for carriers that handle emergency calls.

NTT Docomo stated that the outage was caused by a problem in its network of electronic payments equipment used in services such as taxis and vending machine.

The incident report, which included preventive and underlying causes, was submitted by the telecom giant to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications this month.

Eight executives of the company, including President Motoyuki Ii and CEO Motoyuki, will also voluntarily return a portion their salaries to take responsibility.
