Jagan govt warns shopkeepers not to sell gutka, cigarettes on school premises

The Andhra Pradesh state government has taken steps to ensure that there is no toxic environment around schools across the state.The state medical health department has decided to prohibit shops selling gutka, paan and cigarettes within 200 meters of government school premises.

ANMs will monitor the environment near public schools across the state.Two or three schools will be assigned to each ANM.ANM will have to go and inspect the conditions near the school.An app has been developed under the auspices of the state medical health department for this purpose.

ANM people have to take photos of the schools and the environment at the school premises.Then, they should upload them through this app.The state government has made it clear that stern action will be taken against shop owners who set up shops like cigarettes and gutka.Also, the state govt ordered that there should be no liquor shops near schools.

The govt has decided to erect boards in the school premises to indicate the adverse effects of smoking.Strict action will be taken against teachers who smokes on the school premises.

The Department of Medical Health is working to launch this app soon.
