By Atul Krishan New Delhi, Aug 31 : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the second chargesheet supplementary issued against Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez in connection with the money laundering case brought under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) that involved multimillionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, the ED has claimed that the actress did not disclose the whole truth, nor did she disclose the specifics of the money she received or the gifts she received.
The chargesheet that was reviewed by IANS the ED claimed that Fernandez of making up false stories to get out of the investigation that is ongoing.
She was not even clear on the way in which the proceeds of the crime got to her home according to the ED stated.
“The explanation offered by Fernandez regarding her lack of understanding of the criminal prior antecedents of Chandrashekhar is erroneous and contradicts the evidence that were gathered in the course of investigation,” the ED alleged in the chargesheet.
In the course of investigation during an investigation, the ED discovered that Chandrashekhar had met Fernandez through her makeup artist Shaan Muthalik.Chandrashekhar claimed to be a top person in the Ministry of Home Affairs, who was “connected” to the family of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa.He was also said to be the proprietor of Sun TV.
Chandrashekhar had lavished expensive gifts to Fernandez and family members as well as booking charter flights to them.Hotel expenses for Fernandez were covered by Chandrashekhar.
Advaita Kala is a screenwriter, author, and columnist has recorded her account prior to the ED in which she claimed she was approached by Fernandez approached her for writing task of web series.Kala was paid a sum of Rs 17 lakh in the beginning.
Fernandez had sent a person to her house to take delivery of the cash settlement.
Then, Kala got a call from a person who identified himself as chairperson of DLF and claimed that he was calling on behalf of Fernandez.
The caller said he will send a person to her house.Then, a couple of days later an individual visited Kala and claimed that he was sent by DLF and offered her $15 lakh in cash.
But, Fernandez in her ststement addressed to ED on August 30, 2021, had stated she had told ED that she only sent flowers and chocolates to Kala.
“She was in contradiction to her own words when she said to the ED on the 20th of October 2021, that Chandrasekar had given her 15 lakhs of rupees at the Kala residence of Kala,” the ED stated.
Chandrashekhar in his declaration also informed the ED that, at the demand of Fernandez, he paid 15 lakhs to Kala.In addition, he also gave expensive gifts to Fernandez.
Fernandez was also silent about the role that was played by Pinky Irani, who approached her makeup artist and introduced her to Chandrashekhar.
Chandrasekar was planning to purchase two homes for Fernandez the first one was in Juhu in Mumbai as well as the other in Sri Lanka.
He informed the ED that he had also purchased an apartment for Fernandez’s parents in Bahrain.
