Thiruvananthapuram 21 August : The Central intelligence agencies have begun an investigation following an article in the IS mouthpiece “Voice of Koharasan’ said that the first Indian suicide bomber they had was a Keralite who had switched to Islam from Christianity to Islam.In the most recent issue of the magazine, the article on the suicide bomber is in the section “Memories of Shuhada” A section dedicated to the memory of the people who died fighting for IS.
The story did not specify the identity of the young man.It states on the fact that he was an engineer from Kerala who spent time in Bengaluru as an engineer, and then moved to Dubai.
The article also states that the teenager had taken on the name “Aboobacker Al Hindi” and that he became interested in Islam during his time in UAE.He later conducted further study on the religion via online portals and later changed his religion to Islam.
After his conversion he as per the magazine, was attracted by Jihad’s concept of Jihad and made contact with Jihad and the IS sleeper cells in Dubai.He had planned to travel to Yemen to further train, but was unable to and so went back to his native state of Kerala.
After a short time in Kerala, he got an email from one of his IS contacts who informed him that there was a job opening in Libya and so he arrived in Libya under the pretense of looking for an opportunity to get a new job.According to the report, he fought against the Libyan Army at Sirsit, the IS the stronghold, and later turned a suicide bomber who blasted himself to death.
Central Intelligence agencies previously received information of this person and was able to initiate an investigation into the.
Sources in the agency informed IANS that he was likely to have committed the crime in 2015-16, and the agency had information on the man with the Central agencies.
