Iran: US must ‘take the first step’ to revive nuke agreement

Tehran, Dec 6, : Iran’s top nuke negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani said that Washington should be the first to revive the 2015 nuclear agreement, as it was the one that left it, according to official news agency IRNA.
Bagheri Kani stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not compromise its demands for the lifting of all sanctions as part of the restoration of the nuclear agreement, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He stated that Iran’s proposals to the P4+1 group, which includes the UK, France, Russia, China, France, Russia, and Germany, were “documented” and logical, and can therefore be used as a basis for negotiations.

Iran believes in the negotiation and is optimistic about the outcome.

He added that Iran’s “unconstructive behavior in the past” and repeated breaches of its commitments make it more important for them to be careful.

After six months of a halt in the talks, Iran, the remaining parties to this deal, and the indirect involvement by the United States, resumed negotiations to restore the agreement on Nov.29.

Friday saw diplomats from the European side of the negotiations return to their capitals to discuss two proposals made by Iran.They reportedly insist on the priority for the removal of all sanctions against Tehran that were imposed by the White House in 2018 after it withdrew.
