RCB captain received brickbats from the fans for sending AB de Villiers at the lower order.
Royal Challengers Captain Virat Kohli has taken a surprise decision to send AB de Villiers at no 6 when his team required a powerful hitter to get a high score against Kings XI Punjab.
The decision has cost the team and resulted in a loss against the underdogs on the IPL points table.
However, when asked during the post-match presentation, Virat supported the decision of sending AB de Villiers after Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube.
He said that it is the collective decision of the management about the left-right combination as KXIP has two leg-spinners.
“We had a chat, it (AB batting at no.6) was a message about the left-hand, right-hand combination.Sometimes these decisions you take, don’t come off.But I think 170 was a decent score.That’s the idea, get your eye in and start hitting.But we were not able to put them under pressure.” said the captain.
In their next encounter, RCB will take on Rajasthan Royals on Saturday at 3:30 PM, while the Kings will lock their horns against Mumbai Indian on Sunday at 7:30 PM.
