This is the last stage of preparations before IPCC member nations will review the report in a plenary meeting next year.

“Our scientists have worked tirelessly in delivering this report through a rigorous assessment of scientific evidence.

The report will inform policymakers around the world about the options and solutions available to address climate change,” said Jim Skea (Co-Chair of Working Group III).

The “Summary for Policymakers” review, which will run until January 30, 2022 allows governments to verify that the draft “Summary for Policymakers”, reflects the evidence presented in the Working Group III Report.

Working Group III is responsible to assess the mitigation of climate changes — solutions and responses to the threat from dangerous climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing sinks.

Working Group III will host a series webinars about different aspects of the Summary for policymakers during the government review.

This will allow government representatives to be informed as they prepare their written comments.

This will help authors identify problems and receive feedback from governments.

The Summary for Policymakers will include key concepts and figures. It will also explain how the summarised elements of the report are grounded in the detailed assessment.

The Working Group III report, which is the third installment in the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report (which will be completed by 2022), is the Third Instalment.

The IPCC approved the Working Group I report in August.

It assessed the science and showed that climate change is widespread.

The Working Group II report on climate impacts and adaptation will be reviewed at an approval session in early-2022, before the Working Group III report is considered.

“These interactive webinars will serve as a crucial support activity during the Summary For Policymakers review process. They allow for informal exchange between governments, authors, and other interested parties.

This will improve clarity and strengthen the text before the approval session,” stated Priyadarshi Shukla (Co-Chair of Working Group III).

The Working Group III report has already received more than 16,000 comments from experts who reviewed the First-Order Draft.

They received over 51,000 additional comments and suggestions from 41 governments during the Second-Order Draft stage.

The end of the first quarter 2022 is the date for the fortnight-long government approval session to approve the Working Group III Report.
