Tejal Desai, an Indian American professor, has been appointed Dean of the prestigious Brown University School of Engineering in the United States.Following the retirement of Lawrence Larson, the current Dean, from September 1 this year, Prof.Desai will take charge.He is currently a professor at the University of California.Tejal Desai holds a BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University.Desai has led academic and research programs at various universities.
With this appointment, Desai has earned a place in the list of Indian descent experts excelling in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, known as STEM.
Dr.
Desai is conducting research on micro and nanoscale technologies to develop new ways to deliver medicine to targeted sites in the human body.She previously chaired the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences at the University of California.
She has also served as Academic Leadership at the University of Illinois and Boston Universities in Chicago.Desai also served as a member of the Brown Biomedical Engineering Advisory Board.
Tejal Desai was born in 1972 in Huntington Beach, California.She had three children who spent most of their time in Santa Barbara.
It is learned that Neeli Bendapudi from Andhra Pradesh was elected as the President of the prestigious Pennsylvania State University last month.She also made history as the first woman to be elected president of the varsity.
Blue will take over as Penn State’s 19th president next year.Eric J.Barron has held this position until now.He has served Penn State for over 30 years.
Neeli Bendapudi was born in Visakhapatnam and moved to the United States in 1986 for higher studies.He completed his Bachelor’s degree and MBA in English from Andhra University.
He later earned a doctorate in marketing from the University of Kansas.Dr.Venkat married Bendapudi to Neeli.He is a retired professor at Ohio State University, University of Kansas, and University of Louisville.
Neeli Bendapudi is currently Professor of Marketing and President of the University of Louisville, Kentucky.She has served as a senior executive at the University of Kansas, as Executive Vice Chancellor, as Dean of the School of Business at the University of Kansas, and as Founding Director of the Initiative for Managing Services at Ohio State University.
