New Delhi, November 19 : .India saw a dramatic increase in agricultural exports in the April-October period in current Financial Year 2021-22.

This is a huge boost for export prospects.It outperformed last year’s seven-month period, 2020-21.
The Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics released Quick Estimates that showed an 11.7% increase in USD exports of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority products between April and October 2021 compared to the prior year.

Exports of APEDA products increased by USD 10.157 Million in April-October 2020 and USD 11.651million April-October 2021.

The Covid-19 restrictions did not prevent this increase in exports.

This is a sign of government commitment to increasing farmers’ income by enhancing exports of processed and agricultural food products.

The exports of processed and agricultural food products saw a significant increase in the seven-months to the end of the current fiscal.

This is continuing the upward trend in exports that was seen in 2020-21.

Exports of rice saw a 10.5 percent increase from USD 4777.35 millions in April-October 2020, to USD 5278.95 in April-2021.

According to the Quick Estimates the growth rate of exports for fresh fruits and veggies was 11.6% in USD terms, and that of shipment of processed foods like cereals preparations or miscellaneous items, it was 29 percent.

Fresh fruits and vegetables exported from April to October 2020-21 amounted to USD 1374.59 Million, which rose to USD 1504.05 millions in April to October 2021-22.

India saw an 85.4 percent increase in its exports of other cereals, while exports of meat, milk and poultry products increased 15.6 percent over the seven-month period (2021-22).

Other cereal exports rose from USD 274.98 to USD 509.77 in April 2020, and meat, dairy, and poultry exports grew from USD 1978.6 to USD 2286.32 in April 2020.

In April-October 20,21, the cashew export grew by 29.2 percent.The export value of cashew increased from USD205.29 in 2020 to USD 265.27 in 2021.

APEDA’s initiatives, which is under the Ministry of Commerce and functions as the Ministry of Commerce’s Commerce Unit, helped achieve this landmark at a moment when many business activities were suffering a setback because of restrictions that were imposed following the second Covid-19 pandemic.

M.Angamuthu (Chairman, APEDA) stated that “We will continue to concentrate on creating infrastructure exports from Eastern, Northeastern and Hilly States, which were previously not sufficient.”
