India targets $43 billion in agri-products exports: Government

New Delhi, Dec 5, : , Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry has stated that the country has set a $400 Billion target for merchandise exports in 2021-22.Of which $262 billion has been achieved in the April-November 2021-22 periods, according to an official statement.
Patel stated that a record $43 billion export target has been set for agricultural products by APEDA in 2021-22.He also spoke at the Agri-Export Conference cum Buyer-Seller Meet’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur.

The Minister stated that the increase in processed and agricultural food product exports from Purvanchal in eastern UP will not only boost India’s foreign exchange earnings but also help double the income of farmers and boost employment opportunities in the area.

The conference was attended by more than 700 farmers and exporters.

Dr M Angamuthu, APEDA Chairman, spoke about the efforts taken to boost exports from the Purvanchal region.The event was held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Independence.

It featured the theme “Azadi Ka Arit Mahotsav”.

During the conference a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between leading exporters-Association and Farmer Producers’ Organisation (FPOs) of Purvanchal region for increasing agricultural products’ exports.

The release said that Angamuthu and Patel flagged off export consignments to China of non-basmati rice and green chilies to United Arab Emirates.
