Kanpur, Nov 26th : .New Zealand beat India by 345 runs in 111.1 overs in the second Test at Green Park Stadium here in Kanpur on Friday.
India’s silver lining was Shreyas, who scored his maiden Test hundred with 105, while Ravichandran Ashwin, who played a counter-attacking knock at number eight, got 38, in addition to half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja.

Iyer resumed his day from 258/4 with two boundaries after Jamieson’s first over.Southee, starting from the opposite end, began his show with eleven consecutive overs.

He broke the 121-run stand in the second over as Jadeja clung on to his stumps without any feet movement.

Iyer, however, was not perturbed and took another boundary by steering through Jamieson.

Jamieson was unable to stop Iyer, who managed to get boundaries through a thick edge between slips and wide gully fieldsers followed by an elegant cover drive.

Iyer scored his maiden Test century by scoring two runs through point from Jamieson in the 92nd Over.

The 26-year old became the 16th Indian batsman (tenth at-home) to score a century in Test debut.

He was also the second Indian batsman after Gundappa Viswanath, who scored a Test hundred in Kanpur against Australia in 1969.

Ravichandran Ashwin seized consecutive boundaries from Wriddhiman Sha, who had nicked Southee’s keeper Tom Blundell in the 93rd Over.

Southee took his third wicket after the drinks break when Iyer hit a drive from the body to cover.

Southee finished his 13th Test cricket five-wicket run, scoring one to seam away Axar Patel.He was then poked behind by the keeper.

Ashwin continued his counter-attack by taking a boundary from Southee as well as Jamieson.Yadav and Ashwin ensured that India did not lose any more wickets before lunch.

After lunch, Ashwin was bowled in by Ajaz Patel.He was beaten by a sharply turning ball from the outside leg-stump.

Patel took Ishant Sharma’s second wicket by trapping him plumb lbw.Sharma took the review, but replays showed that the ball hit top of middle stump and leg stump.New Zealand won the match with six wickets for 87 runs.
