Kanpur, Nov 26th : , India’s debut batter ShreyasIyer scored his maiden Test century during the second day against New Zealand at Green Park Stadium here in Kanpur on Friday.Iyer reached this milestone with two runs using point off pacer Kyle Jamieson.
Iyer was preceded by fellow Mumbaikar Prithvi Sharma, who scored 134 against West Indies at Rajkot.
Iyer reached Test century in 157 balls, with 12 fours and two sixes.
This added 25 runs to his overnight score, 75 off 138 balls.
He was in the field when India were 145/4.
Since then, he has managed the Indian innings and is now the 16th Indian batsman to score a century in Test debut.
After Gundappa Vijayath (against Australia, 1969), Iyer is the second Indian batsman to score a Test hundred in Kanpur.
