Kanpur, Nov 27, : , India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was seen arguing with Nitin Menon about allegedly blocking the vision of the latter in the first session of day three of the Test against New Zealand. The incident occurred in the 77th over after Ashwin had bowled the fourth ball to Kane Williamson, New Zealand captain.
He then went across after completing his bowling action.
Menon was then seen talking to Ashwin about the off-spinner’s bowling action.
This suggested that the umpire had been blinded while stepping on the danger zone.
Ashwin beat Williamson’s outer edge with a round-the-off-stump delivery that skid after pitching.
Ajinkya Rahane, India captain, was then summoned to have a conversation with Menon and Virender Sharma, on-field umpires.
Ashwin joined the conversation as he continued to complete the action, after he had bowled from around the wicket.
Later, visuals showed India’s head coach Rahul Dravid trying speak to Javagal Srinath, the match referee.On-air commentators suggested later that Ashwin was obstructing Javagal Srinath’s vision and that it wasn’t Ashwin blocking his view.
Ashwin had broken the 151-run opening partnership earlier by having Will Young deliver a low-bounce ball to keeper KS Bharat.
