Incessant rains lashes Rayalaseema districts, IMD issues ORANGE Alert

The torrential rains are lashing southern Andhra Pradesh for the past few days due to the low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal.The meteorological department has warned of heavy to very heavy rains in the state today (Monday).

The Met Department has issued an Orange Alert for Prakasam, Chittoor, Nellore and Kadapa districts.

Schools in Chittoor and Kadapa districts remained closed today following warnings from the Meteorological Department that these districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains.

Authorities in Guntur and Anantapur districts have been warned of heavy to very heavy rains.Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan has already spoken with the district authorities about the threat of floods and made appropriate suggestions.

Heavy rains are already lashing the Kodur and Chitvell zones of the Kadapa district.Traffic between Chitveli and Raipur was interrupted due to the rains and flooding at Anumpalli.Jammalamadugu received moderate rainfall.It has been raining heavily in Rayachoty since morning.

Rayalaseema and South Coast districts will receive heavy to very heavy rains on Monday and Wednesday, the Met Office warned.However, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa and Anantapur districts were warned of 7 cm to 20 cm of rainfall.
