S.Korean schools offer in-person classes

Seoul, November 22nd : .In-person classes resumed in South Korea Monday following the implementation of “living with Covid-19”.
Yonhap News Agency reports that all elementary, middle, and high school kindergartens welcomed students.This was the first time in schools since they switched to online learning or held classes in shifts after the Covid-19 pandemic began in 2020.

After the start of the “living with Covid-19” stage, which aimed to gradually bring the country back to pre-pandemic norms earlier in the month, the schools were reopened.

After last week’s College Scholastic Ability Test, (CSAT), the government had planned for schools to reopen.

Teachers and parents have expressed their appreciation for the return to in-person classes, but they also raised concerns about possible infection.

Kim Chang-soo (principal of Seoul’s Hwibong high school) stated that offline activities are now possible through the in-person course resumption.

Yonhap News Agency was also informed by Kim Chang-soo.

His school would resort to an emergency plan that temporarily switches to e-learning for two weeks if there is an outbreak.

South Korea on Monday reported 2,827 Covid-19 new cases.This is the first day in six that this number has fallen below 3,000.

However, the daily total remained at the same quadruple number as July 7th.

Recent increases in teenage infection have been reported in the country.The inoculation rates for these children are still very low.

According to data from health officials, 15.4% of all cases occurred in the fourth week of December, compared with 11% in the first.

Only 12.8 percent of the population aged 12-17 were fully vaccinated for Covid-19 as of last week, compared with the national average of 778.8 percent.
