Soren spoke with IANS about a variety of topics, including challenges for the next years, actions plans, allegations and charges of the Opposition as well as differences with the Central government and relations with alliance partners.

These are excerpts of the interview.

Q: On December 29, your government will be two years old.How would you rate the past two years of government?

Q: Two years have passed since we took office, despite great challenges created mainly by the Covid-19 pandemic. The two-year period was spent in the management of the pandemic as well as providing relief for all segments of society.

We were not kept indoors throughout the pandemic.

We have all been made aware of our plans and programmes to assist migrant workers, the poor and the Dalits. The entire nation has been interested in our work model.

Most notable is the effect of our plans on education, industry, environment and tourism. This will be evident in the state over the next 25-30 year.

Q: The principal opposition party to the state, BJP, has stated that it was a failure for the government in its last two years. What are your thoughts on this.

Q: Is there anything you can say about the BJP There are many masks and faces to it.Jharkhand was created more than twenty years ago.In these twenty years, the BJP ruled for over 15 years. Our state remains a victim of poverty and backwardness despite this. The corruption continued within the government offices.the officials were incompetent.

Our government changed everything. The government has been moved from the state, district headquarters, and block offices to villages and the doorsteps of people.

We conducted the “Aapke Dwar Aapke Adhikar Aapki Sharkar” campaign last month. From morning to mid-night the officials, ministers and representatives of the public stayed on the ground. There were 30-35 million complaints and demands.Twenty-five thousand requests from these were answered and dealt with on the spot. All remaining requests were addressed.

Q: Your government has passed an anti-bob-lynching bill in the Winter Session. The BJP claims that this bill was passed in order to please a particular section of the population.

A: The opposition to the law regarding mob lynching is confusing. All states have been ordered by the Supreme Court to develop such laws.Ask the BJP leaders if it is against Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Adivasis, or other communities. The law prohibits mob lynching. This law does not include religion. This is the BJP style of politics. These leaders intentionally create these controversies.

There are also’sleeper cells’ in the BJP.The’sleeper cells’ play a part in provoking the public when the party cannot speak out directly. The BJP can be like Ravana. It has many heads but also many hands.

Q: The Year of Appointment was 2021, according to your government. How much of the announcements about appointments made it to the ground?

Q: Why is there so much controversy over the appointment drive? A manual was not prepared by the previous BJP government for appointments. For all departments, we have created a first-ever manual.Sportspersons were appointed directly for the first time ever in state history.

In all of the programs I have attended over the past 3-4 months, hundreds were given appointment letters.

Even more, we have made it mandatory to offer employment opportunities to residents of the local area in private businesses.

It is now mandatory for these firms to appoint Jharkhandans in at least 75 percent of their positions. We have decided to create the Technical Skill University as well as Tribal University. They will prepare the youth for work.In the next year, appointments will be made at an accelerated pace.

Q: The Jharkhand Public Service Commission examinations have been the subject of controversy. The government of your country was accused by being silent about the matter.

A: The JPSC can be considered an independent body. The JPSC is fully capable to make its own decisions.

It was given an appointment guide and requested that it speed up the process. The first time that candidates from OBC, SC and ST communities had been successful was when the Opposition felt ‘pain’.

There were so many irregularities in the JPSC exams that they are now being investigated by the CBI.Some of these officials still hold onto their positions after many years. It is not clear where the probe is.

Q: Is there talk of your alliance partner Congress getting upset? Are things going well between Congress and JMM?

Q: These talks are without foundation.A: I don’t have any information about such talks. The government is being run in an efficient manner.

We discuss any issues and come up with solutions.

Q: What is the reason you disagree with the Central government on certain issues?

Q: The Central and state governments have many issues. When we believe the Centre is manipulating us, we voice our disapproval.Despite all of the lows and highs, this relationship continues to move forward.

Q: Which is your favorite achievement by your government over the last two years? What is your personal favorite?

A: Our greatest achievement was to eliminate the fear and anxiety that existed in the past from the state. The best part? We reach out to every person in state.
