India Meteorological Department at Vishakhapatnam issued a statement that states Andhra Pradesh is going to witness a harsher winter this year due to La Nina conditions.

According to the officials, several places have already recorded low temperatures indicating the IMD warning.

Accordingly, Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam district has recorded the lowest in the State with 18.6 degree Celsius on Sunday.Across the State, several places will also witness low temperatures as the night temperatures are dropping day by day.Rayalaseema is also recording a drastic fall in minimum temperatures.

Usually, winters, in December and January, are not severe in Andhra Pradesh as it has quite a long coastline.

However, due to La Nina conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that this winter would likely be colder.La Nina is a climate change that brings in cold waves and cools waters in the Pacific Ocean.

In agency areas of East Godavari and Visakhapatnam, temperatures do fall to single digits regularly, and this time it is going to be colder.Hence, health officials have also warned to take more precautions as the Corona pandemic is not over yet.
