Srinagar 11th of September : The former top Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad stated on Sunday he has not pledged to restore the protections of Article 370 in his new political agenda because he does not believe in promising falsehoods. In addressing a public gathering in the northern part of Kashmir’s Baramulla town, Azad said, “To restore Article 370 would need around 350 votes in the Lok Sabha and 175 votes in the Rajya Sabha.
“This is an amount that no political party has, or will ever achieve. The Congress has been reduced to less than 50 seats , and when they talk of the restoration of Article 370, they are making false promises.”
He declared that his agenda for politics includes the restoration of statehood as well as land and jobs for locals since these are goals that can be achieved.
“Some people have accused me for having voted in favor of the Article 370 abrogation motion brought in by the minister of home.
“I have been against abrogation, and those who do not know the functioning of Parliament are claiming that I have voted against Article 370,” he declared.
He stated that in the time he was chief minister of the state, he arrested 13 police officers for staging a fake confrontation in which three people were killed.
“The people who were arrested are in prison for the last 15 years,”” he said.
He talked of the development works and the creation of districts throughout his time as chief minister.
“Four districts were set up in the Valley and three in the Jammu division during my time as chief minister.I was able to establish new medical colleges during this time.
“Whether I win four votes or a million of votes in the voting process, I’ll not fool the voters,” he assured the crowd.
Azad was the first person to attend a public gathering in Kashmir following the time he quit his basic participation of the Congress party.
