The experts are sending equipment deep into the Srisailam Dam reservoir to measure the depth of the water level. The water storage at the time of construction of the project was 308.62 TMC.However, the water storage dropped to 215,807 TMC in 2009 due to the floods.

Recently, the Krishna Board has taken over the management of reservoirs in Telangana and AP.Against this backdrop, the survey to re-determine the current water storage is being conducted with central government funds.

Reservoir engineers said they were surveying to determine the extent of flooding in the Srisailam reservoir over the past ten years. The survey will continue for 15 days.

Also, it is reported that the reservoir survey will be carried out then in the vicinity of Kurnool district.

The Srisailam reservoir is receiving a continuous floodwater inflow for a few days.

At present, the inflow to the dam is 32,231 cusecs, while the outflow is 42,210 cusecs. The full water level of the project is 885 feet. However, the Srisailam dam currently has a water level of 878.40 feet. The maximum water storage capacity of Srisailam Dam is 215.80 TMC.Currently, the dam has 179.89 TMC of water.
