Hyderabad police have seized banned Gutka worth Rs.1 crore.Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that they have seized Gutka worth Rs.1 crore in the suburbs of Hyderabad.He said three people had been arrested under this case and others were absconding.He said two of the accused were from Karnataka.
Despite the state government imposed a ban on gutka and tobacco products, some traders are still continuing their illegal activities like smuggling.Gutka and tobacco products are being smuggled in the state despite strong police surveillance.
After the ban was imposed in the state, all the gutka manufacturing centres were shifted to the Bidar area of Karnataka.
Recently, the task force has initiated surveillance on the sale of banned gutka and tobacco products in five zones of the city.
In a single day, police have seized over Rs 20 lakh worth of Gutka and tobacco products.
The Commissioner of Police has warned that stern action will be taken against those who smuggle banned gutka, and tobacco-related products.
