The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) on Friday issued a legal notice to Telangana Congress chief and Malkajgiri MP Revanth Reddy over the Outer Ring Road (ORR) lease issue and asked him to apologise in 48 hours for his ‘defamatory and false’ statements.The authority also asked him, to cease and desist from making similar baseless and disparaging remarks.
Stating that the endeavour to monetise the ORR through the Toll-Operate-Transfer model and generate revenues on similar lines as being done by the NHAI, was done in a fair, lawful and transparent manner and IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited emerged as the successful bidder, the HMDA said in the notice accusing Revanth Reddy of making false and sweeping allegations through press meeting/interview.
The notice further stated that the tender/bid documents did not include mandatory advance payments by the successful bidder.
The HMDA made it clear that the failure to apologise for the false statements will result in legal action under both civil and criminal laws.
Responding to the notice, Revanth Reddy said that he’s sticking to his allegations and that he would move court to initiate criminal proceedings against Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao and HMDA commissioner Arvind Kumar.
Terming ORR lease as a bigger scam than Delhi liquor scam, Revanth Reddy claimed that IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited, the company that took ORR on lease, should deposit 10 percent of the tender amount as advance and claimed to have documents of the agreement.He also said that the company is mandated to pay 25 percent of the lease in 30 days and remaining 75 percent has to be paid in 120 days.
“If rules were changed, authorities have to explain why they were changed,” he said at a press conference on Friday.
