According to senior police officers, none of the farmer groups crossed or entered Delhi amid the protests from this route.

But the commuters on the National Highway-48 were stuck again on Friday in a huge traffic jam.During the rush hours two-kilometre long traffic jams were witnessed on the expressway as the Delhi police had erected barricades to stop farmers from entering the national capital.

Due to this, many people could not reach their destinations on time. However, the situation was much better on Friday than on Thursday.

Due to congestion on the stretch the Gurugram police had removed barricades during the peak hours, bringing relief to commuters travelling between Gurugram and Delhi.

From 7:30 am onwards, Delhi Police had started checking vehicles by erecting barricades on the border and at the Rajokri check point. As soon as the pressure of vehicles increased during morning rush hours the vehicles lined up till Ambience Mall in Gurugram and later reached Shankar Chowk on the carriageway.

In fact, between 8 am and 1.00 pm, most commuters headed towards Delhi got struck in traffic. The movement of the traffic was slow as the Delhi Police was checking mostly commercial vehicles including, buses of the Haryana Roadways, buses of the Delhi Transport service (DTC) and even canters on suspicion of carrying protesting farmers.

“Traffic pressure from Rajokari checkpoint to Shankar Chowk in Gurugram remained for hours due to the strictness of Delhi Police. The Gurugram police was on alert throughout the day and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.

Special care is being taken not to increase traffic pressure anywhere,” Gurugram Police Commissioner KK Rao said.

However, across the day, no tractor trolley or large group of people had crossed the stretch.

The police were checking suspect vehicles or vehicles ferrying more than five people.

Apart from this the Gurugram Police also removed barricades on Bilaspur Chowk, Panchgaon Chowk and the border area connecting Rewari and Nuh districts.

“The Gurugram police was still deployed at the location only barricades had been removed. We don’t want due to this protest the commuters on the stretch face any problem during travelling.

The officials on the points were only checking suspected vehicles,” Nikita Gehlaut, the deputy commissioner of police (Manesar), said.

Moreover, seeing the farmers’ Delhi march, the Gurugram police was also vigilant in all the border areas. The vehicles were monitored on the seven key locations identified by the district police.

“My office is located in the Dhaula Kuan area, and for the past two days I am not able to report on time, owing to massive traffic jams and police checking at the border,” said Gaurav Kumar, a commuter.

“The Delhi-Gurugram Expressway is the lifeline for people in the NCR.It should not be disturbed under any circumstances.Traffic jams cause heavy losses.Especially in the morning, most people are not able to reach the office on time due to the blockade,” said Vardhan Garg, a daily commuter
