MPTC and ZPTC election polling has started in AP.As the High Court Divisional Bench gave the green signal for the conduct of elections, on Wednesday, the Election staff made arrangements for polling at the polling stations.Polling began at 7 a.m.and will continue until 5 p.m.Elections are underway for 515 ZPTC and 7,220 MPTC seats.2,058 ZPTC candidates and 18,702 MPTC candidates are in the fray.However, 126 ZPTCs and 2,371 MPTCs have already reached a consensus.Currently, the polling for the remaining seats is underway.
The dilemma remained till Wednesday afternoon as the High Court single bench on the election gave a stay on the conduct of Parishad polls in AP.Later, the election staff received verbal instructions from the government to move to the polling stations.
The Election Commission has set up 27,752 polling stations of which authorities identified 6,492 polling stations as problematic.Security arrangements have been made in the respective areas.
There are a total of 247 Maoist-affected polling stations in AP.Authorities were alerted in the wake of the Chhattisgarh encounter.Huge security forces were deployed at those polling stations for a peaceful conduct of elections.
