All int’l passengers traveling in TN must pass an 8-day home isolation test

Chennai, December 25, : , Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said Saturday that all international visitors arriving to the State have been required to undergo an eight-day exit and home isolation test.
After several Omicron variant cases were reported by travelers who also arrived from countries ‘not at-risk’, the state health department tightened its mandatory standards.

At-risk passengers from countries such as Botswana and South Africa will be tested at all four state international airports.

In a Saturday statement, the Minister stated that the government will maintain the requirements of passengers arriving from “at-risk” countries.

This includes testing upon arrival and home isolation for 8 days.If found negative, then an exit test.

However, the same process will be applied to those who arrive from other countries.There have been several cases where Omicron variant has been detected in passengers who arrived from countries deemed not at-risk.

The random screening of passengers arriving from countries not at risk was limited to 2%.They were told to keep an eye on their health for the next two weeks, but they did not have to wait to see results.According to him, they would be placed in isolation in hospital if they tested positive according to the Central government guidelines.

According to the health minister, testing will be intensified and surveillance increased by the department.

According to him, the state would now inspect at least 10% of all travelers from “not-at risk” countries.He also stated that passengers will be kept in quarantine while an exit test takes place on the eighth day.

Minister said police, local governments, the revenue and health departments will all monitor passengers in quarantine.The minister stated that domestic flight passengers will be required to disclose their travel histories.
