New Delhi, Aug 8 : A Hindu family from Sanghar in Sindh province of Pakistan was slain on Sunday night by nearly 12 men under the jurisdiction of Mirpur Mathelo police station over a minor dispute which triggered a furious outrage on social media with people requesting justice for those who were hurt, reports from media claimed.The family, which comprised three women and two children was attacked in an eatery close to Ghotki.
The attackers who showed up in the vehicle Vigo in the process of “tracing” the family, smashed the car and injured Ajay Kumar who was in the vehicle.
According to a close relative of Kumar the suspects began at the Hindu family without a reason.
He stated that family members returning from Raharki Sahib — a temple in the region attempted to cross Shamsher Pitafi’s vehicle , but were repeatedly denied the right to do so.
The family managed to make progress but they were pursued by Pitafi, who later, the men who were in Vigo were able to attack them during their time they were there, Express Tribune reported.
However, the people who were been gathered on the spot attempted to calm the situation, and shield the family from physical assault.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Kheal Das Kohistani claimed that the attackers have also acted inappropriately with women.
“The Sindh police has assured that the perpetrators will be detained,” Kohistani said and added that IG Ghulam Nabi Memon and SSP Ghotki Tanveer Tunio have been brought into custody.
“The principal culprit should be detained as soon as possible,” Kohistani demanded.
However, he added, despite the pressure from various people the police have been unable to bring Pitafi in for an arrest.
Sources have told The Express Tribune that Pitafi is a cousin of Sindh Livestock and Fisheries Minister Abdul Bari Pitafi.
They added that local Hindu elders requested Kumar not to file an FIR against Pitafi.They also stated that , due to “political pressure” the police were hesitant to arrest the men involved in the attack.
