The GHMC officials seem to believe in the dictum ‘hit the iron while it is hot.’ The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Saturday seized Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal belonging to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for not clearing outstanding property tax arrears to a tune of Rs 12 crore.
As per sources the stadium is due 12 Crores of Property Tax to the GHMC from several years and is not responding to the notices.HCA is not paying the property tax despite slapping of warrants and notices to them in the past forcing the GHMC resort to such a harsh step
They chose to seize the cricket stadium ahead of the next crucial IPL match scheduled for May 11 between sun risers and Kings XI Punjab.
The tickets for the match were already sold.In order to organize the match, Hyderabad Cricket Association had to pay all the dues to the corporation.
