New Delhi, Aug 18 : After a flurry of rebukes from various political parties regarding the subject of Rohingya illegal immigrants The Minister for the Union, Hardeep Singh Puri apparently backtracked saying that the Home Ministry’s press release provides the correct position.
On Twitter The Minister took to Twitter on Wednesday said, “Home Ministry’s press release with regard to the issue of Rohingya illegal foreigners spells the correct information.”

In the past, the minister in tweets had said, “India has always welcomed those who have sought refuge in the country.In a landmark move, all refugees will be moved into EWS flats in Bakkarwala area of Delhi.They will receive with basic services, AUNHCRAIDs & round-the-clock police security.”

However, this triggered intense reactions from different quarters.Vishwa Hindu Parishad voiced its displeasure, saying that Rohingyas shouldn’t be provided housing and should be exiled out of India.

Then soon after, Union Home Ministry clarified that it has not issued any direction for the provision of EWS apartments to Rohingya illegal immigrants at Bakkarwala in New Delhi.

The clarification came after Puri in praising the decision to relocate more than 1100 Rohingya refugee in Delhi to apartments with basic amenities.

In relation to stories in specific segments of the media about Rohingya illegal immigrants, it has been confirmed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has not issued any instructions to offer EWS flats for Rohingya illegal migrants in Bakkarwala in New Delhi, stated the Home Ministry.

In the meantime, AAP slammed the BJP on the issue.On Twitter, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated, “The Centre, which was not tired of declaring this news as its success in the morning but will now try to place the blame at the feet of the Delhi government following the protest by AAP.It is a fact that the federal government was secretly working to provide permanent shelter to those Rohingyas in Delhi.”

Reacting to the issue, CPI (M) tweets “Government Policy on Rohingya Refugees against Humanity as well as UNHCR.Amit Shah disagrees with Union Minister Hardeep Puri.The State of Sushasan.”
