Gunasekhar is a renowned director who can make commercial films artistically.Many of the films he has made in the past have impressed the audience immensely.
He lastly directed the period drama ‘Rudhramadevi’ 5 years ago which had Anuskha Shetty and Rana Daggubati in lead roles.Ever since then, the director has been trying to bring more and more historic stories to life. He was supposed to direct another historic drama with Rana in the lead role which is titled ‘Hiranyakashyapa’ and has been working on this film for a couple of years.Now, the film has been kept aside because of the pandemic and Gunasekhar has now announced a new film, titled ‘Shaakuntalam’. As the title suggests, ‘Shaakuntalam’ is based on the epic tale of love from the Adi Parva of the Mahabharata and Shakuntala is the daughter of Sage Vishwamitra who wrote the famous Gayatri Mantra, and is one of the most revered sages of Indian history.
Sharing the news about the film, the director shared a small motion poster on Twitter and wrote, “Before manifesting the spectacle of Narasimha Avatar on the silver screen in ‘Hiranyakashyapa’.Presenting to you a whimsical ‘Tale of Love’ from the Adi Parva of the Mahabharata.”
The video had the caption saying, “The Love that was Forgotten.An unforgettable tale of love that remains.” Interestingly, Gunasekhar is introducing his daughter Neelima Guna as the producer with this film while leading music director Manisharma is providing the music.Cast details will be announced soon.On the other hand, Gunasekhar will be making ‘Hiranyakasyapa’ after wrapping up ‘Shaakuntalam’.
