Government to consider bring forward Anti-Maritime Piracy Bill in LS

New Delhi, Aug 5 : The Centre on Friday released “The Anti-Maritime Piracy Bill, 2019 and the Minister of External Affairs S.Jaishankar will move the Bill in the Lok Sabha to make special provisions for the repression of pirates on the high seas, and to provide punishment for the offense of piratery and for other matters that are related to it.
In addition, a number of private member bills are listed including the population control Bill to be introduced by BJP MP Ravi Kishan.

Both Chambres of Parliament on Thursday were witness to protests from opposition lawmakers over the allegations of the use of investigation agencies of the government to target opposition politicians.

Opposition members, led by the Congress in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha protested against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids and summons issued against Opposition leaders.

The Lok Sabha proceedings were first suspended until 2 p.m.and later on the following day, the opposition members continued to shout protests against the abuse of the ED against political opponents.
