New Delhi, November 17, 2017 : .A day following the ICC award of hosting rights for the 2025 Champions Trophy, Anurag Thakur, the Sports Minister, stated Wednesday that the government would monitor security in Pakistan at the time, before making a decision about whether or not the India cricket team will travel to the event.
The Champions Trophy is the first ICC tournament that will be hosted in Pakistan since the 1996 men’s ODI World Cup which was co-hosted by two other countries- India and Sri Lanka.The Champions Trophy will mark the start of the first ICC tournament to be held in Pakistan after the 1996 men’s ODI World Cup, which was hosted by Sri Lanka and India.

Because of the political tensions between the two countries, India and Pakistan now meet only in ICC events.Due to political tensions, India and Pakistan no longer meet in ICC events.

“When such global tournaments happen several factors are considered.Many factors must be considered when such international tournaments are held.

Even in the past, you would have seen many countries have pulled out to go there (Pakistan) and play because the situation there is not normal.In the past you’d have witnessed many countries withdrawing from Pakistan to play in this tournament because it isn’t normal.Security is the main challenge there, like teams have been attacked in the past, which is a concern,” Thakur told reporters here.”Security is the biggest challenge here, as teams have been attacked and that is a concern,” Thakur said to reporters.
