Panaji August 11, : Declaring that Goa was rich in minerals development, natural wealth and development the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, on Thursday claimed that it was because of these reasons , the Portuguese moved to Goa.
“Portuguese arrived in Goa and rule for over 400 years.Goa wasn’t poor; it was wealthy.It was because of this, they moved to Goa.While they ruled for over 400 years in Goa the Goans definitely stole (our riches).It’s not a sin, if we affirm that,” Sawant said.

Sawant was speaking as he congratulated freedom fighters at the Aguada Fort in North Goa.

“Asia’s first medical school”” was founded in Goa.The first pharmacy college in Asia was in Goa and Asia’s first lighthouse was constructed in the Aguada fort in 1874.This means that Goa wasn’t poor; it was wealthy,” he said.

Sawant stated that the Aguada jail museum will open to the public shortly and, since we celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in the school, students are not charged for an entire period of one year to enter.”There might be tickets available for visitors,” Sawant added.
