German tourism is almost back to the pre-Covid levels

Berlin 10th August : The tourism industry in Germany continues to improve following the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic with the number of overnight stays getting back to pre-crisis levels in June.
The Federal Statistical Office announced on Wednesday that the number of overnight stays by travelers was just 3.4 percent below the number of June 2019’s 48.9 million, according to DPA news agency.

The gap from the pre-crisis levels has been decreasing steadily from the start of 2022.

Overnight stays of visitors from Germany even slightly surpassed the pre-crisis levels by 0.3 percent in June.

However, international travellers still logged an 22.2 percent shortfall.

Guesthouses, hotels and other lodgings recorded the total of 187.6 million nights of overnight stay in the first quarter of the year.This was 146.3 percent higher than in the same time frame the previous year.

Domestic guests made up 162.4 million nights of overnight stays (plus 132.2 percent).

The growth was even more evident among travelers from other countries with 25.2 million overnight stays that’s which is an increase of 304.4 percent.

The growth was not distributed equally across the industry however.

Inns, guesthouses, and hotels with more than 10 beds have reported 4.5 percent less nights of stay in June when compared with the previous year.

Overnight stays in camping and holiday homes On the contrary, were slightly above levels prior to the crisis.
