By Archana Sharma Jaipur 24 August : In the midst of speculation about whether he is the frontrunner for the position of the next Congress President, Ashok Gehlot said on Wednesday that he will continue to serve as Rajasthan Chief Minister, while some members of the Sachin Pilot camp congratulated their leader well in advance and were anticipating that should Gehlot is elected as the party’s president, the it will be clear for the former deputy CM to take over the role of the Chief Minister in the state of the desert.
In his trip to Ahmedabad on Wednesday, Gehlot said, “Right now, the high command has assigned me two responsibility.
The first is working as the top observer for Gujarat as well as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan.I will perform both.I will do my best to put in all my efforts into ensuring that Congress keeps the power in Rajasthan.”
When asked about his name making around as the next Congress President, Gehlot said, “While there have been discussions about this topic in the media for some time nobody knows what the final outcome will be.The President of India Sonia Gandhi went abroad for medical check-ups today.As of today, I am entrusted with two official responsibilities, and I will continue to perform both of them.”
“Did the AICC (All India Congress Committee) inform anyone? There is no obligation to speculate, and what could I do,” Gehlot added.
In the meantime the Pilot camp remains positive with many praising their leader in advance.
Their tweets showed that they are optimistic of Pilot being the next Rajasthan Chief Minister.
Anirudh Singh, the son of the state minister Vishvendra Singh, who publicly resisted his father’s decision to show his support in the solidarity with Pilot He also added a picture of a crown to his Twitter profile.
Sushil Asopa who is a senior state Congress leader and a fervent fan of Pilot tweeted “The residents of Rajasthan do not trust the media They are aware that the people want Sachin Pilot.”
Another Pilot supporter and MLA from Viratnagar, Indraj Gurjar, Retweeted a tweet posted by one of the Pilot supporter, stating: “Pasine se jo likhte hain apne iradon ko mukaddar kabhi mukaddar kore nahin Hua card (Those who make their fate with sweat don’t fail in their endeavor).”
Gurjar was also tagged Sachin pilot, and also ‘Rajasthan Pilot’ in his post.
Political experts believe that even though Gehlot has stated clearly that he will not be going to leave Rajasthan, he has also kept his options open by requesting people to wait until an official decision is made.
At several times earlier, Gehlot had said that he is not in the race to become the Congress President, and had demanded Rahul Gandhi to take over the presidency.However Gehlot’s remarks on Wednesday, however, the Rajasthan Chief Minister did not mention Rahul Gandhi’s name in his remarks on Wednesday.
