New Delhi, Sep 7 : Gajinder Singh, one of the suspects of the hijacking of an Indian Airlines airplane to Lahore in 1981 The alleged hijacker has disclosed his current whereabouts in Pakistan via an online post in contradiction to Islamabad’s claim of his existence.
The location of Gajinder Singh Gajinder Singh, a wanted terrorist and co-founder of the radical group Dal Khalsa, reportedly surfaced after he posted a photo of himself taking a selfie in the front of Gurdwara Pania Sahib at Hasan Abdal in Pakistan’s Punjab province on his Facebook page on Monday.

On September 29th 1981 the Indian Airlines Boeing 737 domestic passenger flight that was en route from Delhi’s Palam Airport to the Amritsar’s Raja Sansi Airport was hijacked by five militants of the Dal Khalsa headed by Gajinder Singh.The plane was then taken to Lahore Airport in Pakistan.The plane carried six crew members aboard.

The Dal Khalsa had been demanding an independent Sikh homeland of Khalistan.

Gajinder Singh, a former Indian ambassador, contacted Natwar Singh, the then India’s ambassador in Pakistan and made demands.

They demanded the release of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as well as other fanatics belonging to the Khalistan movement, as well as they demanded a sum of $500,000 in cash.

The hijackers were tried in Pakistan and were sentenced to life prison.However, after fourteen years in prison they were released in October 1994.

The Indian government has repeatedly put on the table requests to Islamabad to deport him.

Gajinder Singh was listed on the list of India of the top 20 wanted terrorists in 2002.
