Mumbai 19th August : The A.R.Rahman composed “Chola Chola” track from Mani Ratnam’s new epic period action film “Ponniyin Selvan: I” that was released on Friday, features the rhythm of the song that is rooted in the traditional culture of Tamil Nadu and is performed in the praise of the Chola emperor, Rajaraja Chola I.
The song reintroduces the duo of Mani Ratnam and Rahman who have previously created memorable soundtracks for Indian film with “Roja”, “Iruvar”, “Dil Se .”, “Alaipayuthey” and “Yuva” to just a few.

The song makes use of South Indian folk instruments in large quantities with an impressive the percussion section.Composer Vishal Mishra has stepped behind the microphone with Swagat Rathod add his voice to the lyrics of the renowned Mehboob.

The orchestra combines the sound of three formidable forces: Chennai Strings, the A.R.Rahman Foundation’s Sunshine Orchestra and Budapest Art Orchestra.

“Ponniyin Selvan I” The first of two-part productions inspired by Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same title and features an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R.Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R.Parthiban.

The film is expected to release in theaters on September 30.
