Paris 17 August, Paris : French tennis player Gael Monfils was Wednesday excluded of the US Open due to a foot injury that he was afflicted in the last week in Montreal.
The 35-year-old was a battle with rising British star Jack Draper in the Montreal Masters last-16 on Thursday.

In the first set of the second set Monfils was injured on his foot and he needed to be treated immediately.

After a visit to the doctor Monfils was able to go on with the match , but it was too painful, so he took the decision to quit the match.

“Hello! It’s a tough one tonight in Montreal.The first exams I’ve had so far aren’t excellent.I’ve decided to return to Europe to meet with my doctor.I will update you when I can.Thank you for your many messages of encouragement,” Monfils tweeted after the game.

Following the most recent medical tests the world’s number 22 is now forced to undergo a new phase of treatment

“Dear all and thank you for your support.Following the most recent medical tests I underwent when I returned to Europe and the United States, I am sad to not be able to compete in the US Open this year.I’m forced to go through another round of treatment before I can be allowed to play again,” Monfils said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

In the earlier days in the month of May, Monfils had undergone a heel surgery and was unable to attend the French Open.Following the French Open, Monfils also was absent from the entire grass season and even Wimbledon.

The week before, he was playing his first tournament in three months.

He was victorious in two games during the Canadian Masters before his injury problems returned in the match against Draper and he was forced to withdraw during the game.
