The petitioners claim that the term of the West Bengal Central School Service Commission panel to recruit Group C staff was over on May 18, 2019.However, many people were still recruited into WBBSE based on the SSC’s recommendations.

Justice Gangopadhyay was looking through the documents and found one of these people. He immediately ordered that the salary be stopped.

Gangopadhyay had halted the salary of 25 Group-D staff due to alleged foul play in their appointments. He ordered a CBI investigation into the alleged illegal recruitings.

The employees however moved to the division bench, and the hearing is still pending before the court.

The court also requested all details regarding the employment of the 400 Group C employees within 48 hours.

Gangopadhyay stated that the court would review all documents and decide the future course,

The state had recommended that the 2016 fourth-class be recruited in West Bengal schools. In response, the WBSSC conducted periodic examinations and interviews and formed a panel.

2019 was the end of the term for that panel. It was widely believed that the commission had made many irregular recruitments, not less than 500, even after the expiration of its term.

There were also allegations that the commission’s regional office was involved in recruitments.
