He was a coach with Lancashire county team as well as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

“A couple of days ago, we received an email from the ECB that Harry has been selected to be part of the England U-19 team that will face against the Sri Lanka U-19 team at home,” Singh told The Indian Express.

Notably, a number of South Asian, including Indian-origin players, have played for England youth teams however Singh is aware of the difficulties his son is likely to face as he is attempting to move to the next level.

His son Harry is the batting coach for the Lancashire 2nd XI.

“It’s not an easy task it takes some of luck and a lot of runs to be successful at the top.I have witnessed many cricketers in the 90s who performed very well in domestic cricket , but did not do well when they were representing the Indian team.As Harry gets older, he will have to make the necessary adjustments to his technique, which every cricketer has to do,” RP Singh further stated.

Harry started playing cricket when he was of eight.

He was a good football player as well, but as he got older his enthusiasm in cricket grew. Then, the family decided their sole son would take up cricket under the guidance of his father.

“He often bowled quickly, but I am aware fast bowling, especially when opening the batting could take quite a bit of toll. Therefore, I decided to allow him to bat, and now he bowls off-spin, too. It’s not over yet but he has taken a tiny move in his professional career.” Singh said.

As he progresses, his coach has made the decision to send Harry to the Dilip Vengsarkar’s academy in Mumbai which is where he will be trained under the direction of the former India captain.According to Singh the plan is to create Harry an all-rounder that can perform on all types of surfaces.

“He must master the techniques of batsmanship and he is able to do this after he goes to India,” Singh said.
