He was a coach with Lancashire county team as well as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

“A couple of days ago, we received an email from the ECB that Harry has been selected to be part of the England U-19 team, which will face against the Sri Lanka U-19 team at home,” Singh told The Indian Express.

Notably, a number of South Asian, including Indian-origin players, have played for England youth teams however Singh is aware of the difficulties his son is likely to face as he is attempting to move to the next level.

His son Harry plays batting for the Lancashire 2nd XI.

“It’s not an easy task and you’ll need an element of luck and a lot of runs to be successful at the top.I have seen a lot of cricketers in the 90s who did quite well in the domestic game, but fell short when they played for the Indian team.As Harry develops, he will have to make those adjustments in his technical abilities that every cricketer has to do,” RP Singh further said.

Harry first began playing cricket at the age of eight.

He was a good football player and basketball, but as he became older his fascination in cricket grew.It was at this point that the family decided their sole son would be a cricket player under the direction of his father.

“He was a bowler who used to bowl fast , but I am aware that bowling fast and opening your batting could take quite a bit of toll. Therefore, I decided to let him bat, and at present he bowls off-spin as well. It’s not over yet but he has made a small leap in his professional career.” Singh said.

As he progresses, his coach has made the decision to send Harry to the Dilip Vengsarkar’s Academy in Mumbai which is where he will be under the direction of the former India captain.According to Singh the plan is to create Harry an all-rounder cricketer capable of playing on all types of surfaces.

“He must master the techniques of batsmanship and he will only be able to do that only once he is in India,” Singh said.
