Adelaide, November 19th : , Former Australia captain Kim Hughes has criticised Cricket Australia (CA).He made Tim Paine Test skipper while being aware of the ongoing off-field investigation that Paine was involved in.It was also shocking that CA had appointed Paine captain for 2018 when they knew about the texting scandal. As a result of his controversial conversations with Cricket Tasmania’s female employee in 2017, Paine announced that he was stepping down as Test captain.
A sobbing Paine made the announcement at Hobart but insists on continuing to play in the Ashes series.
“Paine did the right thing (by resigning), but I am stunned that Cricket Australia did not review the situation.Hughes stated that the standard you set is what you will accept.” Hughes spoke to Five AA Radio in Adelaide.
“Integrity? I must be lying.Please, God.That was what you found out, and then decided that it would be acceptable to name him as captain.Please, give me a break.”It’s incredible,” Hughes said, adding that he was Australia’s skipper from 1979 to 1984.
Travis Head from Australia, who was selected for the Ashes’ first two Tests, stated earlier that they will learn more about Head’s resignation within the next 24 hours.It’s difficult to talk about at this time, as I don’t have the inside scoop, and I haven’t talked to Tim.I expect that we will learn more over the next 24 hours.According to news.com.au, Head stated that the group is in great shape.It’s a lot like (World Cup-winning T20) T20, where this group has played many series together.
Head stated, “It is difficult to comment on the current situation, but the culture and the position of the team, I see the T20 squad very similar to the Test squad.So I believe Australian cricket in its entirety with the players we have, we’ve got great people, and we fully support everyone.”
The next Australian Test captain is not yet known.Vice-captain Pat Cummins, who has an outside shot at Paine’s successor Steve Smith, remains the main-runner.
