The current momentum means that foldable smartphones will see a 638 percent increase in India’s sales by 2021 and will reach a record of 35,000 units in 2022.

According to Techarc data, the foldable smartphone market is expected to increase by 60% next year.

This will translate to Rs 3200 crore in revenue for Samsung and other original equipment manufacturers.In 2022, Samsung’s foldable smartphones are due to be launched.

The intention to purchase in the luxury category, above Rs.50,000, is more than just utility.It’s about making a statement.Techarc founder Faisal Kawoosa said that foldable smartphones are the perfect balance between utility and style and will definitely improve the ROI for this segment.

For the last three years, Samsung has been the only OEM to offer commercially-available foldable smartphones.In 2021, it launched both the third-generation Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

The market has responded well to both, but the foldable version sells better than the flip.

Smartphone manufacturer OPPO now has its first foldable phone, the ‘Find N.

Tasleem Ariff, Vice President and Head R&D, OPPO India believes that smartphone technology is entering an era where there are endless possibilities for innovation.

Arif stated that “previously, smartphone evolution focused on the display panel.However, now everyone has the same phone, so manufacturers are trying to find a way around the problem of smartphones with different features.”

He said that India’s growing community of tech lovers is actively exploring and discussing new forms factors such as rollable and foldingable.

At least one innovative folding phone will be launched in 2022.Apple, Huawei, and Samsung are all rumored to be working on a foldable iPhone.

Recent industry reports suggest that the number of foldable smartphones will increase 10x by 2023.Anku Jain (Managing Director MediaTek India) stated that dual-purpose smartphones will increase their Indian customer base, particularly among millennials.

Premium smartphone buyers view their phones as lifestyle statements.

They want to be seen as having the best technology, which includes foldables.

The mainstreaming of foldable forms factors is driving this shift in consumer mindset, chiefly in terms of device durability and water resistance, as well as more affordable pricing,” stated Prabhu Ram (Head-Industry Intelligence Group at CMR).

Ram said to IANS that he believes the Indian premium smartphone market will boom in 2022 and beyond as new players enter the fray with foldable smartphones.

Manufacturers and distributors of OEMs have been trying to invent something to entice customers.

Many major smartphone companies are planning to release foldable smartphones that use the most recent technologies within the next few months.
