Five held in Vizag to supply online ganja

Visakhapatnam : , November 27, 2012 – Five people have been arrested by Andhra Pradesh police in connection to an online marijuana sales racket.Two of these individuals were registered as Amazon sellers.
The investigation revealed that Srinivas Rao, a contact point for two men from Madhya Pradesh, was selling marijuana (ganja), from Visakhapatnam into Madhya Pradesh to treat diabetes.

Satish Kumar, Joint Director of Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), told reporters that the gang was active since last 7-8 months.It is believed that 600-700 kilograms of contraband was obtained through this route.

He stated that they are expanding the scope of investigations to include other e-commerce platforms believed to have been used for the sale of the substance.

According to the official, Suraj Pawaiya and Mukul Jaiswal would be questioned in Madhya Pradesh.This would reveal more facts.The duo were arrested by Bhind police last week and their possession of over 20kg dry ganja was taken from them.

They had registered on Amazon as sellers to supply stevia dry leaves to sugar control and were using GST numbers from other companies.Srinivas Rao was their contact person in Visakhapatnam.

Kumar explained the modus operandi by saying that Srinivas Rao was the one who used to send the invoice from Madhya Pradesh.He then pasted the same on the package before handing it over for Amazon employees.

Srinivas Rao was taken into custody during vehicle inspection in Visakhapatnam, November 21.The police also recovered a small amount of ganja from him.Police seized 48kg of dry ganja, packaging material related to Amazon, and other items based on his confession.

Police also arrested Srinivas Rao’s son Mohan Raju alias Rakhi (J.Kumaraswamy), B.Krishnam Raju, and Venkateswara Rao.

Srinivas Rao was assisted by pick-up associates as well as the driver of a van.
