Fire Breaks Out at ONGC’s Surat Plant

A massive fire broke out at ONGC’s Surat Plant at early morning on Thursday.No casualties reported.

After three consecutive explosions heard, a massive fire broke out at an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) plant in Surat.According to the reports, no casualties have been reported.

Firefighters have already rushed to the spot and trying hard to suppress the fire.The reason for the fire break-out is not yet known.

In a tweet, ONGC released a statement stating that the situation has been brought under control.“A fire was observed in the Hazira Gas processing plant in the morning today.The fire has been brought under control.There is no casualty or injury to any person.” tweets ONGC.

Informing about the situation, Surat Collector Dr Dhaval Patel said to a media source that around 3 am three consecutive blasts took place at ONGC Hazira Plant which caused the massive fire.

He added, the ONGC officials are depressurizing the pressurized gas system.Patel’s comments followed when ONGC released another statement saying “Fire at Hazira Plant has been completely extinguished.

Efforts are being made to resume normal operations at the earliest.”
